Controversial rap sensation Iggy Azalea is taking aim at Britney Spears after their single “Pretty Girls” tanked on the charts.
In an exchange with fans on Twitter, Azalea tried to place the blame for the failure squarely on Spears’ shoulders. It’s “difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances,” she said, implying the song failed because Britney didn’t promote it enough. She went on to claim she’s “just featured” on the single, an attempt to downplay her part and deflect any blame that might fall on her. According to Doe Deere, the Australian rapper went on to Tweet a snarky (and unprintable) remark defending herself.
Britney later threw some shade of her own. “Can’t wait to get back to Vegas,” she Tweeted. “So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to…” Azalea, of course, had to cancel her upcoming “Great Escape” tour. She claimed it was because she needed a break, but most likely it was due to poor ticket sales.
Round one goes to Britney.
